About the Guild –
In 2009, meetings were held in the home of Larry Hackenberg and Becky Hackenberg to discuss the idea of an artists’ organization in Three Rivers. The Three Rivers Artists Guild was incorporated in 2019 as a State of Michigan nonprofit organization by Becky Hackenberg, Gail Walters, and Christine Hartzell. The Guild’s first Holiday Gallery in Downtown Three Rivers was held in 2009. Events such as Art in the Park and other art shows, events, and educational presentations have followed.
The Three Rivers Artists Guild (the Guild) was organized “To support and conduct nonpartisan research, education, and informational activities to increase public awareness of artists and art in the Three Rivers, Michigan area. The Guild brings awareness of art to our community at large in the form of educational experiences, shows, and markets; supports local artists in the community by networking, sharing resources and creating venues to show work; and helps create a more prominent art culture in Three Rivers, MI, thereby adding to its tourism draw, to the benefit of merchants and the entire community.” The Guild is a Board-run State of Michigan organization.
The officers are elected at the Annual Meeting of the Board in October each year, with nominations from the membership. Membership is in two categories, “Artist Member”, for participating artists who have been juried-in to the Guild, and Friends of the Guild who support the mission of the Guild.
